Creating a Canva app

Click on the Canva app within your widget gallery to add it and fill in the app details as follows:

  1. Name is required for the widget and an optional Description for it.
  2. Paste the Smart embed link. đź’ˇCheck the below section on how to do that.
  3. Enable the Allow Refresh button and configure a refresh interval in minutes.
  4. You have the option to configure a Fallback Image that will be displayed in case your Canva can’t get accessed.
  5. Set the Default Duration the app will appear in a playlist.
  6. Click Save and your app is ready to use.

Availability

By enabling this option, you can set the media’s Availability. In other words, you can select a future and an expiration date, which means you can pick the exact date and time this media will be available for play on your screens.

Example

Imagine having an event that will start and end on specific dates. Setting an availability on the media you want to display on that event, the system will automatically start and stop displaying these media on the screen based on the dates you have set. No need to manually add/remove these media in your playlist/layout.đź’ˇBy keeping this option disabled, the media will never expire (recommended).


Step-by-step

  1. Visit this page to create a Canva account or log in to your existing account.
  2. Save your final Canva template and then click the Share button.
  3. In the window that will appear select More and then Embed.
  4. Next, copy the Smart embed link and paste it into the corresponding field in the Canva app.
